1. Foam Concentrate: The foam concentrate is a mixture of water and foam concentrate that generates foam. There are different class types of foam concentrate for different types of fires. It is important to mix the concentrate correctly, as using too much or too little can lead to ineffective foam.
2. Foam Proportioner: The foam proportioner is used to mix the water and foam concentrate. It measures the water flow rate and adds the correct amount of foam concentrate to generate foam.
3. Foam Chamber: The foam chamber is used to combine the foam concentrate and water.
4. Delivery System: A delivery system is used to transport the foam concentrate from the source to the foam generator.
5. Foam Nozzle: The foam nozzle is used to apply the foam to the fire area.
Firefighting foam is used to combat Class B fire (flammable liquids and gases) and is applied using a foam generator. The firefighting foam is made using a foam concentrate and water mixture. When the foam mixture is released from the foam generator and comes into contact with the fire, it covers the surface of the flammable liquid, forming a blanket that prevents oxygen from reaching the fire, extinguishing the flames. Furthermore, the foam has a cooling effect on the fire and prevents re-ignition by sealing the surface of the flammable liquid.
